Dear Members/Friends
Din l-Art Ħelwa is looking forward to bringing its cultural and social events back to normal after the enforced long lull caused by the pandemic. We are confident that with your cooperation and with the efforts of the Organising Committee, we will achieve the success that we always enjoyed during pre-Covid years.
These events will be ushered in with some flourish. The first special and exclusive fundraising event will be a Violoncello and Harp Performance, followed by a splendid reception, at the historic and magnificent St. John’s Cavalier, the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of the Knights of Malta in Valletta. We are indeed privileged to be able to hold this glamorous function in this prestigious and stately edifice, thanks to the benevolence of the Ambassador of the Order H.E. Prince Augusto Ruffo di Calabria, to whom we extend our appreciation and sincere thanks for his generosity and for his support for Din l-Art Ħelwa’s noble cause.
Two highly talented and well-established musicians, Julie Sévilla Fraysse on the violoncello and Annemarie Camilleri Podesta’ on the harp will regale the audience with a fascinating repertoire, featuring works by J.S. Bach, C. Saint-Saens, P. Tchaikovsky, F. Schubert and J. Massenet. Din l-Art Ħelwa is very grateful to the Alliance Française de Malte Méditerranée for procuring for us from France this internationally renowned cellist and for wholly supporting her participation in this concert. Din l-Art Ħelwa also greatly cherishes the wholehearted support and benevolence that Annemarie Camilleri Podesta’ has given to Din l-Art Ħelwa’s worthy cause.
Julie Sévilla Fraysse
French cellist, Julie Sévilla Fraysse is an eclectic artist who performs as a soloist internationally, while also devoting herself to the orchestra and chamber music. She is a member of the Orchestre de l’Opéra de Paris and artistic director of the humanitarian association CoCreate Humanity. Julie represents both the best classical heritage and the gift of modernity.
Anne Marie Camilleri Podesta`
took up the harp when she was twelve and has been a member of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) since 1998, performing in prestigious concerts in Malta and abroad, including Carnegie Hall in New York. She recorded works with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ġukulari Ensemble, as well as solo pieces. Anne Marie has played with numerous orchestras, including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. She performed a world premiere entitled Ġesti, composed by Prof. Charles Camilleri at the Ninth World Harp Congress held in Dublin in July 2005. She is the Maltese correspondent for the World Harp Congress.
The doors of St John’s Cavalier will open at 7.00pm. Guests will be greeted with a welcome drink and canapes. The concert will start at 7.30pm sharp, so guests are kindly asked to be seated by 7.20pm. The performance, including very short introductory and concluding speeches will last about 1.30 hours.
After the concert, guests will be treated to a lavish reception provided by the very competent Osborne Caterers.
Tickets cost €50 per person, all inclusive. Dress code is Lounge Suit for gentlemen and Cocktail for ladies. The number of seats is limited, so early booking is recommended. Those wishing to attend are requested to fill in the below form.
This elegant and special event, in such an exceptional venue, with the participation of high-calibre performers and an enthralling repertoire, augurs to be a most delightful and memorable occasion. We greatly look forward to welcoming you, your family and friends. Your participation would be a valid and tangible contribution towards the honourable cause and mission of Din l-Art Ħelwa and would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest regards.
Yours sincerely,
