An opportunity to visit this jewel in the crown of Din l-Art Ħelwa’s ‘Heritage Saved’. Open usually only by appointment due to the delicate nature of its early 15C frescos, this medieval chapel and its grounds will be open to the public on the occasion of the annual feast of the Annunciation. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. There will be two talks about the history of the chapel and its byzantine cycle of frescos at 11 a.m. and at 4 p.m. The chapel is to be found taking the second turning right off Blue Grotto Road outside Zurrieq, and then taking the third turning again into a picturesque rural lane. Entrance is free of charge but donations towards the upkeep of the chapel would be most appreciated.
Enjoy the fresh enticing days of Spring with soprano Maria Grazia Grech who will be performing delightful French and German songs!
Reservations are at a donation of €10 per person and can be made by sending an email to baroccobookings@gmail.com, or directly at the entrance of the church.
Patrons are also invited free of charge to watch the ten-minute documentary ‘Grand Master Jean de Valette and his first church of Valletta’ in the underground cinema of the church.
