Dr Theresa Vella will speak about the art collection that was assembled in the course of over two centuries inside the Magistral Palace. She will show how the Grand Masters of Malta led the way in collecting paintings and sculptures as well as in displaying them, in a manner that later led to the growth of art collecting amongst knights and amongst the Maltese. Dr Vella will present new findings made in the course of her doctoral research on the history of art collecting.
Dr Theresa Vella is an art historian and museological consultant to the Palace Regeneration Project. She is also a visiting lecturer at the International Institute of Baroque Studies of the University of Malta.
